Dr Hiua Daraei is a researcher and lecturer with extensive expertise in environmental analytical chemistry, water quality monitoring, water and wastewater treatment, and process modelling and control. With a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of South Australia (UniSA) and a background in analytical chemistry, Dr Daraei has worked extensively on advanced water treatment technologies, disinfection by-products (DBPs) control, and real-time water quality monitoring.
Their research focuses on sensor technology, water chemistry, and proactive water treatment solutions, including the development of AI-driven monitoring systems for optimised water treatment processes. Dr Daraei has contributed to applied research in wastewater treatment, process control, and automation, collaborating with leading institutions such as Griffith University and UniSA.
With over a decade of academic experience, including a tenure as a lecturer at Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences (2010?2018), Dr Daraei has also been actively involved in mentoring students and leading research initiatives. Their work integrates analytical spectrometry, chemometrics, and metrological chemistry to enhance water treatment plant performance and ensure sustainable water management.
