Webinar - Supercomputing to fight COVID-19 (Monday 7 December)

2020-12-04

The Australian Academy of Science, in collaboration with the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources, is delivering a series of online webinars focused on scientific responses to COVID-19. The first event in the series is Supercomputing to fight COVID-19. Supercomputing allows researchers to run large volumes of calculations in epidemiology, bioinformatics and molecular modelling. It can help our response to COVID-19 by increasing the speed with which we can model the spread of the virus, assisting in finding a vaccine and improving treatments.

Join speakers from Korea, Japan and Australia on 7 December at 5:30 pm (KST) to discuss how supercomputing in these countries is assisting with addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speakers

Dr Dae-yeon Cho—Director, Smart City Innovation Growth Engine Program, Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement (KAIA)

Professor Satoshi Matsuoka—Director, RIKEN Center for Computational Science

Associate Professor Megan O'Mara—Associate Director (Education), Research School of Chemistry, Australian National University
